A typical day at Lake Cities Montessori starts with circle time. This is a time of social activities with classmates followed by Montessori work, which is split into a morning and an afternoon session.
Depending on the weather, the children are either taken outdoors to play on outdoor equipment, or our indoor playground, to enjoy free play, games and activities.
Throughout the year, special projects, programs, extracurricular entertainment activities and guest speakers are included to supplement the academic environment and allow for a variety of fun activities to take place.

Infant Program (3 months - 18 months)
We offer convenient and affordable infant care in a nurturing environment that is tailored to parents needs and individual preferences. Parents receive detailed daily reports of their child's day.
Toddler Program (18 months - 3 years)
This is the first step in laying a solid foundation for your child's future Montessori work. At this age, children are introduced to Montessori materials appropriate to their age and development. Also, the foundation for social skills that are absolutely essential for future development are laid in this program in a consistent and loving environment. This includes manners, courtesy, cooperation, potty-training, etc.
Primary Program (3 years - 6 years)
Preschool & Kindergarten
This is an important stage for your child. At this age, children begin to more deeply explore their world. This is when we introduce the main aspects of the Montessori curriculum - adjusted to each child’s individual pace and ability. This stage of development is the “conscious phase” of the absorbent mind. Children are better able to concentrate and show independence and initiative, be self-disciplined, and have joy. Older children are encouraged to participate in teaching younger students and vice versa based on their abilities. There are no limits to a child’s potential as they are given every opportunity to excel and explore. Children will begin to work in each of six different areas in the classroom:
- Mathematics
- Language
- Sensorial
- Practical Life
- Science
- Geography
Early Elementary (6 years - 8 years)
At this age children are ready to begin learning more abstract principles. Our students are encouraged to work at their own pace in a non-competitive, mixed-age classroom. This work is often done on their own, but also in groups. Older children are encouraged to participate in teaching younger students. This helps keep younger children get excited about their work, and helps older students by reinforcing material they have already learned as well as develop an understanding and cooperative sensitivity to others. Early elementary students continue to work in the same areas of education, adjusted to their age and skill level.
